Trivia

Blizzard and the general fanbase continue to malign this character endlessly, casting him as some vile "racist" for not fawning over non-humans who showed no willingness to help in previous times of need. This man had just witnessed a zombie apocolypse, lost his friends and comrades, and lost his king. Everything in his life was now effectively destroyed.
The high elves had been horrible allies overall. They joined the Alliance during the Second War when it suited them and left almost immediately. They offered no support in dealing with the orc internment camps, leaving the Kingdom of Lordaeron to carry much of the financial burden.
His forces successfully retook Dalaran from the Scourge.[1] When undead forces were coming to take the city again, he went nobly to the front lines and had the newly arrived blood elves work on repairing the city's defenses.[2] This was reasonable because these structures were magical in nature, the elves knew such magic to some degree, and their own leader was a part of the Dalaran leadership. And yet the blood elves consorted with unknown snake people, later known to be the naga. They were warned not to do so again, but they did, even while humans died to protect the area.[3]
The blood elves were rightly imprisoned for their treachery.[3] When the blood elves later escaped with the help of the naga, they did so through the very kind of portal that had been used to summon Archimonde and in turn destroy Dalaran.[4]
Later he was controlled by dreadlords, yet more enemies of humanity. Once freed, he allied with Sylvanas Windrunner in good faith under the agreement that Capital City would be freed and the new Forsaken would leave.[5] He fought beside the Forsaken while retaking the capital and yet he was betrayed, killed, and eaten by ghouls.[6]
It might be fair to say that Garithos was harsh and difficult to work with, but he had gone through much repeatedly. He carried the mantle of leadership during the darkest time of human history. His allies were fickle at best and for that he was killed.
