Draenic is the language of draenei. It is exceptionally rare on Azeroth, being spoken by only a few, small communities of those who had escaped Draenor. It is almost entirely restricted to the Swamp of Sorrows and Moonwhisper Coast. More speakers remain on Draenor, largely in service of Illidan, but there is little contact between the two worlds.
Phonology
The sound inventory of the language is exceptionally difficult to duplicate precisely by other species due to the particular anatomy of draenei, namely the long, sharp teeth.
Bilabial sounds—/p/, /b/, /m/, among others—are rare. Dental fricatives—/θ/, /ð/—are impossible. Rounded vowels—/y/, /u/, /o/, among others—are impossible. Aspiration—/◌ʰ/—is contrastive, e.g. /kɑt/ versus /kʰɑt/.
Grammar
Draenic is an agglutinative language.
