Fandral Staghelm is the current archdruid of the Cenarion Circle, replacing Malfurion Stormrage while he remains trapped in a mysterious coma.[1][2] In this role, he is one of the leaders of the night elves.
History
He was born about a thousand years after the Sundering. He stands nearly 8' tall.[2]
His mate died during childbirth, causing him to form a strong attachment to his son.[1]
War of the Shifting Sands
During the War of the Shifting Sands in 970 BDP, Fandral led the night elves against the Qiraji in Silithus. His son was killed when General Rajaxx bisected him. He would never recover from this and became obsessed with finding any way to bring his son back to life.[3][1]
Modern Day
Fandral is desperate to regain the immortality of the night elves.[1] He believes that planting a new World Tree would allow for this, but he has been stalled for years; he aims to plant it on Kalidar soon.
He does not believe that Tyrande Whisperwind has the skill to lead the night elves, but these disagreements are not generally public knowledge. Only the highest ranking priestesses of the Moon and druids are aware of the growing friction.[1]
He has considerable condescension toward anyone who is not a night elf. He is a staunch believer in night elven superiority.[2]
