A faction infobox for states, alliances, clans, religious orders, military organisations, and other groups. It matches Template:Locationbox and Template:npcbox. All fields are optional; empty fields produce no row.

Parameters

Use plain text or manually written Page / label links in descriptive fields. No descriptive field is automatically linked. Use commas or
for multiple entries. Use | for a literal pipe outside a link or nested template.

Parameter Cargo field Meaning
name Name Display name; omitted or empty values fall back to the page name.
image Image Uploaded filename only, without File: or image markup; displayed at 200px.
caption Caption Image caption; displayed only when an image is supplied.
faction Faction Header icon key for Template:FactionIcon: alliance, horde, ashen, guardians, neutral, combat, scourge, burning. This does not add a separate affiliation row.
leader Leader Principal leader or leaders.
fleader Former_leader Former principal leader; add dates where useful.
leaders Other_leaders Secondary leaders, officers, or council members.
fleaders Former_other_leaders Former secondary leaders; distinct from fleader.

classes Classes Character classes associated with the faction.
capital Capital Principal capital or capitals.
fcapital Former_capital Previous capital or capitals.
settlements Major_settlements Other important settlements.
fsettlements Former_settlements Settlements formerly held or inhabited.

faiths Faiths Religions or beliefs associated with the faction.
subgroups Subgroups Constituent organisations, orders, clans, or divisions.
fsubgroups Former_subgroups Former constituent organisations.
affiliation Affiliation Larger organisations or allegiances; separate from the header icon.
faffiliation Former_affiliation Previous affiliations.
status Status Current condition, such as active, dissolved, or contested.
source Source Sources supporting the infobox information; include edition and page where appropriate.
nocargo — Set exactly to yes to suppress Cargo storage and automatic categorisation. Intended for examples and previews.

The leader/fleader pair covers principal leadership; leaders/fleaders covers other leadership. All accept multiple names. Historical fields are independent: a former value may appear even when its current counterpart is empty.

Cargo

The template declares and stores the Factions table. Storage and automatic Category:Factions membership occur only in the main article namespace and only when nocargo is not yes. Use one Factionbox per article.

Name and Faction are String fields; Image is a File; Caption and Source use Wikitext for longer text. All other fields use Wikitext string to preserve manually supplied links. Keep these summaries short: Wikitext string normally has a 300-character default limit unless the site's configuration changes it. Multiple entries remain one free-form value, not Cargo List fields; individual members cannot be queried with HOLDS.

Caption is stored if supplied, even when no image is supplied, but is only displayed beneath an image.

Editing with a form

The optional Form:Faction editor covers all content fields and the article's free text. Attach it through on Category:Factions, not through an unconditional default form on every page.

These are synthetic examples, not Warcraft lore claims. Additional checks are in Template:Factionbox/tests.
