Zalmos the Wolf-Serpent was an Ancient who died during the War of the Ancients in what is now Gilneas.[1] He had a unique ability to regenerate wounds with unparallelled potency.[2]

In death, artifacts of his body are kept by the human order Pellars of Wolfswood, including multiple teeth known as the "Fangs of Zalmos".[1] A soulgem containing a fragment of his essence was once entrusted to the owlkin residing in the Hinterlands, but it is unknown if they remember their charge.[3]

It is theorised by Larodar Wildwhisper and Archdruid Fandral Staghelm that Zalmos' powers could be used to heal Felwood and Nordrassil[2], but Cenerron, a druid who had trained under Zalmos, believes that there is deception regarding this.[3]

Trivia

The name is clearly derived from Dracian Zalmoxis, whose name may in turn be derived from zalmos "bear skin". In contrast to this, the Ancient's form is more in line with the Dracian draco.
